more eaze AKA Mari Maurice returns to Ecstatic Recordings with her new album, executively produced by Alessio Natalizia/Not Waving that artfully weaves heartbreak, and personal transformation into an evocative sonic diary. 'songs of luv + h8,' transcends genre boundaries, delving into themes of gender, identity, perception, and the everyday - fusing intimate field recordings and lo-fi soundscapes with swelling orchestration and candy cane pop melodies to bruise the heart.

Mari explains: "2023 has been a year of intense and extreme change for me. i endured a significant amount of heartbreak and wound up leaving the city and state I've called home for nearly a decade. I began writing this music almost immediately coming into the new year and I felt like my approach to this new work was equally informed by change. i began unconsciously writing a sequel to one of my oldest songs "accidental prizes" which feels like a fitting full circle moment both musically and emotionally to everything that's happened since I started more eaze and now.

'songs..' features dizzying shifts from electronic to organic instrumentation - shard like 12-string guitar riffs, nestle against the haunting tones of pedal steel, and soppy synth harmonies swaddle Mari's plaintive auto-tuned vocals. Fragments of Voice note unguarded moments filter throughout adding a clanking kitchen sink intimacy alongside electro-acoustic dream like soundscapes and quietly strummed guitar riffs that pierce the soul.

'songs of luv + h8' is an evocative sonic diary of a tumultuous year, a raw and unfiltered expression of emotions, calling to mind the the careworn sincerity of Gastr del Sol or Grouper as well as a testament to the potential of music to heal and inspire.
